With WABook you can search not only for text appearing in the beginning of a word but anywhere in the word, in the end of the word etc. In case of rare words not in the dictionary, there is a special Kanji lookup function that gives you information about individual kanji.
The above download contains the general dictionary EDict and the kanji dictionary KanjiDict. There are 5 other dictionaries that can be installed, which you can download here. The PalmEdict dictionary (3.3Mb) is a full Palm version of the latest version of the well known EDICT Japanese - English dictionary compiled by Prof. J.W. Breen. It is formated for use with KDIC, the shareware dictionary software for the Palm Pilot.
PalmEdict is freeware. To display the Japanese characters, products like CJKOS and similar can be used.
